10-minute play



The play introduces the audience to an older couple in the middle of their morning routine as the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina intrudes into their lives, he tells her he poisoned her cup of coffee. It is one of my most successful.

An actress who in the production of Slipping into Anarchy when it was performed in England a few years ago turned it into a movie.

Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company also hosted an online reading of Slipping into Anarchy ​during an evening of 10-minute plays in April 2020.



2013



Slipping into Anarchy was performed three times in 2013. The final time was on Nov. 8-10 in Brooklyn, NY after it was selected as part of The Modern-Day Griot Theatre Company's "See, Hear, Taste, Touch" festival. ​

Earlier in 2013, it was part of the By the Light of a Match: Bad Love festival by Snorks and Pins Productions in New York on Feb. 8-9, 2013. As part of the promotion for the festival, they posted an interview with me on Facebook.

​That same weekend, Slipping into Anarchy was part of One Night Stand Theater's performance on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at The Vintage Theatre in Aurora, Colorado.

It was performed in the Salve Regina University play festival on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Casino Theatre in Newport, Rhode Island. Earlier in 2012, it was performed as part of 2012's Theatre Roulette at MadLab Theatre in Columbus, Ohio (above).

Slipping into Anarchy was also chosen as part of Little Fish Theatre's 2011 Pick of the Vine as part of Turtle Shell Productions' 8 Minute Madness Playwrights Festival in 2011 and was also picked as part of Cluj Theatre's premiere season in Romania in 2011.



2010 - 2011



Also, in 2011, it won second place as part of the Sussex Playwrights' Club 10 Minute Play Competition at the New Venture Theatre in Brighton, England (above).


In July 2010, Slipping into Anarchy was named a finalist at the 14th Annual NYC's 15 Minute Play Festival presented by Turnip Theatre Company in association with the American Globe Theatre in April 2008. It was also part of the Magnolia Arts Center's 10-Minute Play festival in November 2010.



2007



Additionally, it was selected for a reading and workshop at the 2007 Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region.



Origins



The idea for Slipping into Anarchy originated when I saw a newspaper headline during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
