Near the start of the play, a character says: "He was dead by the time I got there." As the story unfolds, we learn it is a man's last night in prison after he is proven innocent and is going to be released. The man, and those around him, must decide if a person can remain himself while trying to survive incarceration, and how sudden salvation can evolve from a long time of sadness. This play is inspired by Tim Masters. In 1999, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Nearly 10 years later, he was exonerated and set free.
